January 23 – June 19, 2019
Thorncliffe Park Public School

Koffler Studio Offsite aims to bolster existing arts curriculums and better serve youth residing outside the downtown core by bringing accessible arts programs into classrooms and communities.

It its pilot stage, Koffler Studio Offsite is a free after-school arts program – developed by Koffler Gallery Education staff and supported through a 2018–19 Seed Grant provided by the Ontario Trillium Foundation – offered to 30 Grade 5 students at Thorncliffe Park Public School, occurring every Wednesday starting January 23 to June 19, 2019.

The program features artist-lead workshops, age appropriate Art History lessons, and tours of exhibitions across the city, all intended to provide students with distinctive arts-based learning opportunities. Workshops are facilitated by Toronto-based artists who are proficient in various mediums such as painting, sculpture, installation, video, photography, ceramics, drawing and illustration, and bookmaking.

Artist facilitators include: Partick Cruz, Tetyana Herych, Azra Kara, Ness Lee, Tau Lewis, Maddy Mathews, Alicia Nauta, Farihah Shah, Joële Walinga, and Kendra Yee.

The program will culminate mid-June 2019 with a final exhibition and Ontario Trillium Foundation Recognition Ceremony, in which the works produced by students over the duration of the program will be on view for the Thorncliffe Park Community and extended public.

Generously supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
