Andy Fabo and Bruce Eves on Pivotal Art Movements of Kensington Market for National Coming Out Day
- Talks +More
Kensington Market Historical Society and Koffler Arts are proud to co-present talks by distinguished artists Bruce Eves and Andy Fabo. Eves was an integral member of CEAC, the Centre for Experimental Art and Communication (1976–1978), which had its roots in the Kensington Art Association (1973–1978). Fabo was one of six emerging Canadian artists who created and exhibited in Toronto as ChromaZone/Chromatique Collective (1981–1985), also situated in Kensington Market. Both speakers will discuss their personal involvement in CEAC and ChromaZone, and will highlight the significant and lasting contributions of these artist-run collectives in Toronto’s contemporary art scene.
This talk is presented in honour of National Coming Out Day (Friday, October 11, 2024) as both artists have been producing unabashedly gay-themed art from their earliest days.
Presented with support from the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies, University of Toronto and the Canadian Studies Program, University College, University of Toronto.
