The curator of The Synagogue at Babyn Yar, Dr. Robert Jan van Pelt, was fundamental to the commissioning of Manuel Herz to design this innovative sacred space and living memorial adjacent to the site of so much bloodshed. In his words, Babyn Yar is "cursed ground." And working with the Koffler and Herz, van Pelt dreamed up the exhibition on view until January 14th.
