Dasha Tolstikova: Artist in Residence
- Literary
In partnership with Groundwood Books, the Koffler Centre of the Arts is thrilled to welcome graphic novelist and illustrator Dasha Tolstikova as our Artist in Residence, featuring her debut illustrated memoir, A Year Without Mom.
Following her participation in the Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF), Tolstikova will engage with diverse communities through a series of cross-disciplinary workshops, public readings and onstage conversations. In addition, Tolstikova will participate in author-in-the-school programs where she’ll introduce students to her creative process and inspirations, and lead students in creative writing and illustration exercises.
Dasha Tolstikova’s illustrations have appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the New Yorker. Her graphic-novel memoir A Year Without Mom has received three starred reviews and has been translated into Korean and Swedish. She has also illustrated The Jacket (written by Kirsten Hall), a New York Times Notable Book.
Full residency details coming soon.
