Without Borders, Without Limits is a community-engaged photography and writing project connecting newcomer and refugee seniors through a collaborative creative process.

To highlight and honour the cultural significance of language, this group of remarkable Mandarin and Spanish-speaking seniors wrote stories in their mother tongue and experimented with digital photography, with our dedicated team of photographers, writers, translators and settlement workers.

Developed in partnership with CultureLink and JAYU, and generously funded by the Ontario Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility, the Ontario Arts Council and Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program, these weekly writing and photography workshops began in early January 2020, but unfortunately had to pause in March at the start of the pandemic. Covid-relief funding provided additional resources for much-needed access to iPads and personalized digital-literacy training, so that we could resume the weekly workshops on Zoom.
